One of our chapter’s first community initiatives was with Time Dollar, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit charitable organization working on the Westside to build community by providing for basic needs in ways that can lead to life-changing experiences. 

Our collaboration began when Les Dames members gathered unsold foodstuffs from area farmers markets and donated them to Time Dollar. From there, the group begin teaching cooking classes to the group, instructing them on nutrition, how to use produce they received from the farmers markets, how to can food and more.  Four yearly nutrition and cooking classes continue today.

Our organization has sponsored, planted and maintained gardens for Time Dollar and taught Junior Master gardener classes. We also have donated refrigeration needed for cold storage. 

Additionally, annually our group provides 80 Time Dollar families Thanksgiving turkey and Christmas ham dinners with all the trimmings.
